Light Basis Weight Papers, Pre-Impregnated Decorative Foils & Finish Foils
Topcoated papers refers to a group of decorative papers that can range in weight from 23 grams/m2 to over 100 grams/m2. The base paper itself may or may not contain resins and additives (added during the paper making process) that improve the machinability , opacity, and physical properties. These decorative papers almost always have a topcoat applied for extra durability and aesthetic enhancement. The topcoats can range from polyurethane, polyester, acrylic, melamine or polymers that are cured via UV or EB technology.
These papers are roll laminated or profile wrapped continuously using a variety of adhesives (including PVA, UF and hotmelt). Common uses are in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, store fixtures, paneling, shelving, closet systems, RTA, home office furniture, picture frames and wrapped moldings.
Topcoated papers are sold by printers and or coaters and are generally sold by area or length. The ability to convert from area to length and between imperial and metric units of measure is useful.
The following calculators were created to make these conversions easy and flexible, allowing mixed entries between metric and imperial values. Click on the blue title bar to navigate to the desired calculator.
This calculator can convert costs between area or length if you provide the following information:
- Area to linear meter conversion factor or width in millimeters or inches
- And one of the following units
- Cost by area in either dollars $ / square meter (m2) or dollars $ / square foot (ft2)
- Cost in length in either dollars $ / linear meter (lm) or dollars $ / linear yard (ly)
New option now available - a second calculator can be opened that allows you to convert the cost to other currencies!
This calculator can calculate the length of roll of paper if you provide the following information:
- Diameter of the roll in millimeters (mm) or inches (in)
- Outside diameter (OD) of the core in millimeters (mm) or inches (in)
- Thickness of the paper in microns or mils (1/1,000 inch)
This calculator can convert between area and weight with the following information:
- Area to linear meter conversion factor or width in millimeters or inches
- And one of the following units
- Area of the project or paper in square meter (m2) or square foot (ft2)
- Length of the project or paper in either linear meter (lm) or linear yard (ly)
